I have been running for 15 years competitively. For a competitive runner, I started late, my junior of high school was my first taste of distance running. It was quite the shock, but after a year of painful shin splints and “why am I doing this?” I fell in love with sport and have been training hard ever since.
I love spreading my passion for the sport to others and I have coached year 6 years of high school cross country and 1 year of college track. If there is one thing I have learned about fitness/running, it is an ever-changing area. Being knowledgeable in the sport of performance is important, but being able to continually educate yourself essential. I love learning what new techniques, ideas and philosophies are out there. I have my Personal Training Certification (CPT) from the National Academy of Sports
Medicine along with my Corrective Exercise Specialization (CES).
My training philosophy is based around progression and prevention. Pushing yourself too hard, too quick, usually puts most people on the sideline. When you are out with an injury you can’t get better. Being proactive by doing the small tedious things, that no one likes to do. Flexibility, strengthening, stabilization, core, etc., are all very important to building a better more well-rounded runner.
