Flashback 2015: The thing I love most about the Boston Marathon, sponsored by @johnhancockUSA , is the journey to the start line shared by runners around the world. My husband and I come from very different running backgrounds, but we both shared the same dream of running the Boston Marathon. #ad Together, It took us years of hard work to make this dream a reality in 2015 & 2016. Every year, I always reflect on the journey to get to Boston. It takes support from so many people in our lives working towards the dream. When you line up at the start, it's amazing to see the thousands of runners from around the world, each one having a unique journey to earn their spot. For the one day, we all come together to run 26.2 miles on the same historic course. I can't wait to run along those streets again #togetherforward
I remember sitting at home with our 2 week old when the Boston letter came in the mail in November. My thoughts, “wow. I was really, really naive to think I could run a marathon 5 months postpartum”. I was a new mom. When I registered before giving birth, I literally had no idea what I was in for 😂🙌🏻 it’s not just the 1-2 hour sleep stretches that make training difficult, folks! Postpartum recovery is an incredibly lengthy process. In the past marathon training cycles, my life has been really predictable and stable. Welcome to motherhood where baby smiles are the best and you suddenly don’t care about your training at all and your life turns into an unpredictable beautiful storm 😂 Training for a marathon with a newborn is actually insane. Everything that could “go wrong” or every one of my “worst fears” in training pretty much happened every day for the past 5 months 😂 The good news is along the way, I discovered I’m a hell of a lot stronger than I thought. It’s pretty amazing what us humans are capable of if you have a goal and believe in it. Swipe to see highlights from my training. I might not be in the best shape of my life or trained under ideal conditions but my mind is stronger now than ever!
